Saxon Scope Editor-in-Chief Aimee Cho has received an award for her excellent performance in journalism winning the VHSL Journalist of the Year.
In doing so she won a $500 scholarship to the college of her choice. Cho had to compete against other high school journalists from all across Virginia.
Aimee has worked with the Saxon Scope for three years of her high school career and has played a vital role every year. She has been one of the Editors-in-Chief as well throughout her senior year.
As a sophomore and a junior she worked as the Online Editor of the Scope and has made it possible for the Scope to win many awards at this year’s Ball State Contest such as first place for the Website overall.
Cho has also contributed to the awards for the first place Website Home Page award, and the Print overall third place for the Saxon Scope.
During her sophomore year, she led the website to be selected as a finalist for the pacemaker award.
Ms. Jennifer McAdams, Langley’s Journalism Advisor said that “It is my opinion that our school owes Aimee a debt of gratitude for her efforts to make us extremely visible on the web.”
“As we all know by this point, looking good online is pretty much what matters most in today’s world, where social media is king,” said McAdams.
Aimee remains as a significant role in the Saxon Scope’s success. Aimee is a senior this year and we will surely miss her in the years to come.
