What started out as a homecoming tradition has turned into so much more: an opportunity to fight a deadly disease. The proceeds from the Powderpuff game coming up on Tuesday, Oct. 12, will benefit Breast Cancer Awareness.
A beloved tradition at Langley, the Powderpuff game is a twist on the traditional football match – girls play flag football, while boys serve as cheerleaders. This year, there are 40 juniors and 63 seniors signed up to participate.
“The teams even practice a lot beforehand,” said senior Mary Redmond.
“The game is funny, with all the guys cheering. It is fun to see everyone’s competitive spirit,” said senior Rachel Sanson.
Athletic Director Geoff Noto, and Vice Principal Fred Amico will act as referees, while gym teacher Jeff Mye and Vice Principal Tommy Meier will be coaches. The game will be filled with energy, enthusiasm and lots of fun, all for a good cause.
