Hey everyone, I’m Neeka and I’m a J4 and senior!  I am beyond excited to start off another great year in journalism this fall—creating magazine issues from our computers to your very hands is something I love to do.  My journalism career began in 7th grade and I’ve taken journalism every year since.  As an 8th grader I had the privilege of becoming editor-in-chief of my middle school newsmagazine, The Hawkeye, at Cooper Middle School.  That year, I was involved in the process of transforming the Hawkeye from a newspaper to a modern newsmagazine format.  During my freshman year at Langley, I was a Copy Editor and that summer I attended jCamp at Virginia Tech to fine-tune my design skills to ensure that I, along with my other fellow journalists, would publish a magazine each month that was appealing both content-wise and graphically.  As a sophomore, I was an Online Editor and frequently updated the stories that you saw daily on the Saxon Scope website.  This past year, I served as a Feature Editor, scoping out the most intriguing human interest stories for the Langley community to enjoy.  Currently as Editor-in-Chief, I could not be more proud of my staff and grateful for the amazing editors who have preceded me.  During summer 2014, I was honored to attend the Washington Journalism & Media Conference at George Mason University, where I truly discovered what I intend to do with the rest of my life.  I now serve on the WJMC Youth Advisory Board; I greatly look forward to planning the 2015 conference.  As a magazine enthusiast, I also serve as a High School Ambassador for Her Campus, an online publication established at 230+ college campuses nationwide.  When I’m not behind the computer screen writing a story or designing a page, you can find me playing field hockey, heading up French Club and French Honor Society  (je l’adore), volunteering with Key Club, and helping disabled children learn how to ride horses at Lift Me Up.  Jlove <3
