Saxons, this is it. My style diaries and outfit epiphanies have reached their wear-by date. Even though the fashion show is long over, I still remember everything that happened from the moment I arrived for hair and makeup to the very last second before I went on stage. The nervous excitement I experienced was a whirlwind of all of our practices compiled into one big ball of anxiety. Did I mention that concentrating on remembering the dance and performing it in high heels was practically a lost cause? Anyways, the fashion show proved to be an overall success. Our group, better known as the Red Hot Rays (Metallic & Sequins), sent a sparkle through the crowd.
When I first arrived in the morning, in the Aux Gym for hair and makeup, there were a plethora of stylists – but not nearly enough for the hundreds of students in the show! The hair and makeup our group had chosen in advance was beyond perfect and definitely original. With our sleek ponies and smoky eye makeup, we were ready to take the stage—runway style. However, the hours that awaited us caused me to experience a pang of nervousness, not something you need right before a make-it-or-break-it kind of show!
Through all the crises before the show, (hair troubles, spilling Chipotle all over the floor, and the pressure to get the dance absolutely perfect), I think we managed pretty well, don’t you? I really had an amazing experience with the fashion show. I had the opportunity to meet new people, brush up on my dance skills, and have something to look forward to every week at practice. All of the groups did a fantastic job on stage, but our group was the only one that shined on stage—literally! Even though my diaries are now over, I must say, the fashion show was a definite style do—in other words, the ultimate style success.
Forever Fashionable,
Neeka
