On November 22, 2013, sophomore Annie Mae Weiss was featured on The Today Show as her father, Olympian Michael Weiss, skated to her new single “Stay”. Growing up singing for skaters like Corbin Bleu, she has gained copious experience performing live.
“The Today Show was a crazy experience. The fact that I got to go on national TV was amazing and being able to talk about my song and what it accomplished was so cool,” Weiss said.
Along with her already impressive accomplishments, Weiss’s new song has reached iTunes with much support from students at Langley. “My song is about a situation that I went through in the past that I decided to make into a song,” she said. “The process was really fun but long.”
The making of a song can be grueling with many takes, recordings and hours. The first step is to find a place to record, and then deal with mashing together pieces of the song to all come together in the end.“I had to go in and record voice and harmony then record the instruments along with it and then finally I mixed it together to edit the final piece,” Weiss said. Recording one song alone can take months, let alone an album.
In the future, Weiss plans to make an album and pursue her career further. “I’ll always keep being inspired and hoping to write more songs.” To top off all her recent jobs, she just finished filming a commercial for Mussleman Applesauce. Weiss hopes to continue working with new artists and skaters and gain more experience.
