In about a month from now many Juniors and Seniors will decide if a year of planning is worth a couple of hours. This year on May 30, Prom will be held at the Andrew Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C. After winning the Lord and Taylor prom tweeting contest and receiving $10,000, this year the “Gold, Glamour & Grandeur”-themed prom is sure to be unforgettable. “I think that the inspiration for the prom was really the venue that we chose; the Mellon auditorium is beautiful and…the architecture provided us with a really elegant atmosphere…” says junior and Prom Committee co-chair Sahara Shrestha. On how the Committee operates, she says “[they] organize meetings and within the committee, [they] have separate committees for things like publicity, decorations, music, food, etc.” The Prom Committee truly works their hardest to make this the best night of your lives. “It’s a group effort… closer to the prom date, everyone really works together to come up with new ideas that we think could make prom the best,” comments Shrestha. Remember that tickets are sold at school all the way until Friday May 29th, the day before prom!
