The Academy Awards this year were hosted by Anne Hathaway and James Franco, who many thought were an odd match but brought a new fresh feeling to the awards show overall. After the awards, there was a lot of controversy regarding Franco’s presentation. Viewers described him as “distracted” and “uninterested.”
“The hosts this year were really good and funny I loved them,” said sophomore Alexis Biggs. Hathaway changed dresses four times in the short time span of about three hours.
It was a busy night for “The King’s Speech,” which took home four Oscars. Other big winners of that night were “Toy Story 3” and “Inception.”
“I honestly had never heard of the movie ‘The Fighter’ and saw that it won a best picture award. Trust me, I haven’t been living under a rock either,” said junior Galila Daniel. Kirk Douglass, a 94 year old actor, was a surprise guest and presented the best supporting actress award. Although it wasn’t described as the best Academy Awards show ever, it was still very entertaining. The most important aspect and the purpose of the Oscars is to recognize motion pictures and the hard work behind them. In that regard, it was definitely a successful year.
