Lincoln has disappointed many young fans who went to watch the movie with very high hopes. It was probably the worst movie I’ve seen in theatres this year.
I went in to the theatre expecting a good movie with a lot of fight scenes and profanity. I came out shocked at the fact that there was only one 30-second fight scene at the beginning, just a few curse words, and a countless number of boring scenes with nothing but talk.
I thought the movie would be more about Lincoln’s life and his road to the presidency. It turns out that it was only about the 13th amendment and a little bit about the Civil War.
Granted, the acting in this movie was amazing, however the overall storyline was a huge disappointment. Again, only one fight scene (with almost no gore) and a few curse words. I repeat this because that was probably the only reason I wanted to see the movie in the first place.
I expected a lot more, the movie could’ve been a half hour shorter and it would’ve been a better movie. If they had cut out a few of the countless scenes at the House of Reps, I might not have fallen asleep during one of them.
The jokes in this movie were pretty good for a historical movie. Who knew people in the mid-1800s had such a taste for humor?
The plot was very hard to follow at some points. They explained something in a brief, 15-second conversation, and expect you to know what they were talking about for the rest of the movie. The dialect they used in that time made it all the more harder to understand.
If you plan on seeing Lincoln in the next few weeks, I’d recommend a little bit of brushing up on the history of his presidency. That’s another thing. They should’ve really made the plot easier to understand for younger audiences. But hey, if the older people in the audience aren’t already sleeping during the movie, they just might like it.
