I’ve lived in McLean since I was born, and I love it. The schools are all nearby, I can walk to town in about twenty minutes, and the people are nice.
However, that’s not the top reason why I love McLean. That honor, undoubtedly, goes to the food and restaurants.
Since I was little, I have always liked going to the town to get food, but my selection of restaurants consisted pretty exclusively of McDonald’s and McLean Family Restaurant.
As the years have gone by, my range of eateries in McLean has greatly expanded, and now, I am here to give a quick review of my personal favorites.
To start off the list I have to go with a classic, McLean Family Restaurant. It has always been that one place that I have always known about, and when I am not in the mood for anything else, I can always go there and have a solid dining experience. The food is decent, the atmosphere is laid back, the service is fast, and the waiters are nice. There isn’t anything that particularly stands out to me, but I especially like the breakfast, I mean, who doesn’t like pancakes and bacon? Though I can’t, in good conscience, recommend the baby back ribs; they are horrendous.
Next up is a famous part of McLean tradition, Chesapeake Bagels. This is the definition of a breakfast shop, they have a welcoming atmosphere, a wide selection of toppings and most importantly, fantastic bagels. My personal favorite is a toasted poppy seed bagel with cream cheese, but there are so many different combinations. I could go there every day for a month and still enjoy all they have to offer.
To close off my list, I have to go with my personal favorite restaurant in all of McLean, Madison Deli. I love Madison Deli, It may not have a fancy seating arrangement or a huge staff, but whenever I go to Madison Deli I enjoy a meatball sub combo, incredibly kind service from the owner (Mr. Cho) and his family, all for a reasonable price. They have a wide variety of sandwiches ranging from the famous Steak and Cheese Sub to the Bacon Cheeseburger to the more obscure “Marilyn Monroe” sandwich. There is something for everyone at Madison Deli.
Students at Langley come from all around Northern Virginia, but none of them get better food than those of us in McLean.
