From the people that gave you “The Hurt Locker” comes an action packed thriller about the hunting of Osama Bin Laden, one of the world’s most notorious terrorist.
This 2 hour and 37 minute masterpiece detailing the struggles endured by an elite team of intelligence and military operatives captures a day that will go down in the history books as one of America’s greatest.
When I first heard about the movie from a friend, I knew I wanted to see it. I have always been interested in the US armed forces and the many missions they carry out all across the globe.
In the movie, several key historical moments were portrayed including 9/11 and the 2005 London bombings. Pertaining to 9/11, the movie recreated the scene through audio.
The movie provided actual phone calls made from inside the World Trade Center as planes were flying head on into the buildings. It was an unforgettable scene making it feel as if I was there when the event took place.
The 2005 London bombings where several CIA agents were killed was recreated with unbelievable detail. During the morning rush hour, four terrorists detonated four bombs killing about 52 people and injuring more than 700.
Three of the four bombs were set off on London’s trains while the fourth one was set off later on a double-decker bus in Tavistock Square. This scene really appealed to my emotions; it strongly highlighted the seriousness of the situation and the dreadfulness of terrorism.
The actors in Zero Dark Thirty were great. They were very professional and had me believing that this was the real thing.
The best part of the movie, the ending, kept me at the edge of my seat with excitement. It involved an extremely dramatic portrayal of the Navy Seal team raiding Osama Bin Laden’s compound.
Unfortunately, there were also a couple of downsides to the movie, such as the length and the plot. Two and a half hours just for one movie is a little too long, if you ask me. It felt as if I was in the movie theater from sun up to sun down.
The movie was so long that my mind wandered off for parts of the movie. But with the ten year manhunt of Osama Bin Laden and all the complications that came with it, I understand why they needed to make the movie so long.
The plot, on the other hand, was quite easy to follow but it was very repetitive. Most of the movie curtailed the ten years of work the Americans put into finding Osama Bin Laden. Honestly, the only part I wanted to see was the end where the actual killing of Bin Laden occurred.
Zero Dark Thirty is a must watch movie. If you have not seen it yet, I strongly recommend you do.
