Seeing my all-time favorite band in their Overexposed Tour was probably the most thrilling thing ever. With opening acts of Owl City and Neon Trees, I could not have been more excited. The best part though, of course, was Maroon 5’s performance.
I grew up listening to Maroon 5 and finally watching them live was so surreal. The concert was at the Verizon Center and despite fighting through massive crowds and extremely slow security checks, waiting for the concert could not have been more worth it.
Owl City and Neon Trees were the opening acts; first up was Owl City. They were both so energetic, and waving my phone light in the air to “Fireflies” and witnessing Tyler Glenn spaz out on stage while jamming out to “Animal” and “Everybody Talks” was definitely a highlight.
We waited for what seemed like forever for Maroon 5 to take the stage (but it was probably in reality 20 minutes) and my excitement tripled. They kept us waiting when they finally entered the stage, with all of the lights off, until we all heard what sounded like coins going into a machine. At that moment everyone realized that Adam Levine was about to sing “Payphone.”
The concert was a huge success and I was definitely hyperventilating the entire time. I like their new album Overexposed, but I was super enthusiastic when they started throwing it back to 2002 and 2007 with some of their best tracks. My favorite songs had to be “Makes Me Wonder” and “Moves Like Jagger.” However, I loved when Adam sang “She Will Be Loved,” especially since he dedicated to all the girls.
Watching Maroon 5 perform live was almost like a dream. I hope I can see them in concert again soon and scream out the lyrics all over again.
