10 million fans. A number one single in 37 countries. 2 record breaking albums. Hundreds of sold out arena’s. And now, a film. This is the biggest boyband on the planet- One Direction.
All frenzy set loose at Tysons Mall on August 29th as eager teenage girls sat outside the cinema doors for what seemed to be hours, clad with tissues and snacks prepared. This is all the effect of the release of the world famous One Direction’s new film, This is Us. The movie is centered on the lives and careers of the boyband, giving an inside look on of their hectic lives.
I was able to get tickets to the much anticipated film while staying in London. I must say that it certainly brought a flood of emotions, including happiness, shock, and even a bit of sadness. I found the film to be very insightful and eye opening as it showed a side to the boys that the world doesn’t see in magazines and on TV. I had never been a big fan of the UK sensation, though watching the movie I was able to understand a bit better why fans worldwide are crazy over them.
To see normal boys who attended school and played football live their dream and get as big as they have been, is truly amazing. In a sense, it gave a deeper meaning to the boys career. I think it gives their fans hope that they can accomplish anything, just a mere 3 years ago they were hopefuls on the XFactor UK, though they didn’t even win the competition!
Overall, I rate the film a solid 10/10. Whether you’re a fan or not, this movie is truly touching to all who watch it. Hearing their story made me believe anything really is possible, as cheesy as that sounds. I’ve picked up on a line their fans often use, and I think it applies here very well. They really are the boys who lost the X Factor, but won the world.
