The CW is known for their famous teenage attracting television shows; Gossip Girl, Reign, The Carrie Diaries. One show in particular, a personal favorite of mine and many others across the U.S, is The Vampire Diaries. The show itself is amazing, and to make it even better, a spinoff, The Originals came to screens this October.
The Originals is a New Orleans based story of the Original Vampire family battling to regain control of their home, while dealing with complicated romances, enemies from the supernatural world, and a magical hybrid pregnancy. Though the whole idea of vampires may throw you off- don’t be fooled, this is no cheesy vampire series. Personally, as a huge fan of TVD, I wasn’t that interested in the spinoff.
Spinoffs usually don’t go well and I had been too involved in too many other television shows to start a new one. However, after much debating, I decided to watch the first episode. Wow .WOW. The Originals not only proved to be an amazing spin off, I found it better than its lead, TVD. The main characters, siblings, though they’re vampires, have proved to be incredibly relatable. The battles they faced were those of every sibling; the struggle of being united in a dysfunctional family, the older brother being protective of who the younger sister dates, and of course the typical brotherly quarrel over power.
Overall, this spin off is great at keeping viewers entertained and the characters’ charming personalities keep you wanting more. It’s on The CW every Tuesday night at 8!
