Administrators are planning, teachers are talking and architects are sketching in preparation for Langley’s renovation in 2014. But what do the students think about what the new Langley should look like?
Some fear that the school’s administration is not involving the actual student body enough in the renovation process.
But this might change soon.
“Later in the fall or beginning of winter we will have the architects sit down with students and meet with them,” said Vice Principal Mr. Thomas Meier.
This meeting will provide designers, architects and students with a chance to share their ideas.
Sophomore Artemis Jennesari looks forward to this meeting and supports student involvement in the plans. “We are the ones that use the school the most,” he said.
However, some students remain skeptical of the possibility of student involvement in a renovation. Sophomore Owen Lee claimed that the administration is not “asking what we want to change, or showing that they even want our input.”
Still, students should recognize that opportunities to get involved in the renovations will come eventually.
“We are still in the first stage of planning, and the designers and construction team has just been dealing with the faculty and adults first,” said Mr. Meier.
