Renovation plans are in the making for Langley, breaking ground in 2014. Due to the uneven proportion of students and square footage, Langley has recently moved up on the Capital Improvement Plan, a list that determines which schools have the greatest need for improvement. One of the major areas for renovation will be the cramped lab stations in the science wing, which currently prevent students from moving around the classroom during experiments. Other changes will include an updated electrical system and new tile and brickwork. Construction will take place over a two year period and parking spaces will be limited. Furthermore, students will be shifted from wing to wing while additional trailers are being installed for classroom instruction. However, many support the process regardless.
“Other schools that aren’t as good as us are so much nicer,” said sophomore Alex Park. “Langley is the highest performing school besides TJ in our county, but our facilities are horrendous.”
