On Feb. 23, Langley’s auditorium was full of excited audience waiting for the “Fiestival” to start. Performed by the Langley and Cooper Middle School’s orchestra and Langley’s Spanish department, the concert promised to spread Latino Culture.
The concert began with the Langley Freshman Orchestra playing “Bailes para Orquesta” by R. Meyer. Sophomores Kevin Tan and Brandon Tran also played in a beautiful harmony.
Then came the performance of the Cooper Concert Orchestra. They played Brandenburg Concert no.5 by J.S Bach and Toucan Tango by B. Phillips. Langley’s Philharmonic Orchestra played the Por Una Cabeza by C. Gardel and Fantasia on a Theme of Thomas Tallis by R. Vaughan Williams.
Cooper Advanced Orchestra played Symphony No. 88 by Haydn and March Slav by Tchaikovski. Langley’s Symphonic Orchestra took the stage last, playing selections from Carmen.
Overall, the concert was a chance to experience Latino culture and the Spanish language combined with exquisite music. The performances of The Cooper Orchestras were also exciting due to the fact that many of them will be joining Langley Orchestra next year. Sophomore Mira Yoon said, “I loved how the concert had a certain theme that was not familiar to us.”
