Colin Powell, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, and Kathleen Mathews all have something in common; they have spoken at a Langley graduation ceremony. This year the general manager of the Redskins and Langley High alumni, Bruce Allen will be added to that list of esteemed speakers.
Allen played college football at the University of Richmond, and was later drafted to the then Baltimore Colts. He worked as the senior executive for the Oakland Raiders, the general manager for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and is now currently the general manager for the Washington Redskins. Allen is willing to share his insight and knowledge with the class of 2011, hoping to have an influence on their futures.
After much hard work from the Langley Senior class officers, a letter was sent to Allen’s home and to the Redskins PR Department. According to senior class sponsor Jennifer Bonafide “Bruce received the letter at his home first and was happy to accept.”
The seniors are all looking forward to Allen’s speech and are hoping to learn from the stories he shares. Senior Dylan Price stated “the senior class officers worked really hard and I think everyone should be excited about having him speak at our graduation.”
