Langley’s English Honor Society has transitioned from their usual winter book drive to a multipurpose clothing drive that will benefit the Arlington Street People’s Assistance Network (A-SPAN), which the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans recognizes as a service provider for veterans.
“The clothing drive will last from Oct. 24 to Nov. 21, as we are encouraging students to donate new or slightly used clothes, in addition to other essentials like tooth paste and shampoo,” said senior Andrew Kil, secretary of English Honor Society.
Last year the book drive collected nearly 700 books. This year, they hope to surpass that number, but in terms of clothing.
EHS sponsor Ms. Aubrey Ludwig stated, “We want to tie this drive into the book Unbroken, as students understood how hard life can be when you are all alone, and so by doing this we can truly help those military personnel that do not have anyone right now in their life”.
All donations received by Nov. 21 will be given to A-SPAN and distributed to those in need. Students should drop off donated items in Mrs. Ludwig’s room, room 293.
