Imagine answering the phone one morning and being invited to perform at the Orange Bowl. This dream came true for Langley dance team coach Ellen Johnson, when the Langley Dance Team was invited to dance at the halftime show ot the 2013 Orange Bowl in Miami.
Johnson received the call on March 21. She was told that the Orange Bowl organizers had heard about the Langley Dance Team and wanted the Saxonettes to perform, along with other premiere dance teams from across the nation. The game will be aired on Jan. 1.
So what will they be performing? A routine choreographed by Cris Judd, a choreographer known for his brief marriage to Jennifer Lopez. Judd has worked with Michael Jackson, Enrique Iglesias, Usher, and ex-wife, Jennifer Lopez.
The dance team is thrilled to be invited. “It’s such a compliment to the dance team, to have such a huge event like the Orange Bowl ask us to perform at half time!” said freshman Sophia Iglesias (no relation to Enrique Iglesias, whom Judd has worked with before).
“I am so ecstatic! It is such an amazing opportunity to showcase our talent and take us to the next level. I am so proud of all our hard work and this will be the place to show it,” added junior Lauren Megrue.
The news was the perfect ending to an unforgettable weekend for Johnson, whose wedding to Erik Johnson took place on Mar. 24.
