Instead of green and gold, our halls are soon to be dekked out in a sea of holiday sweaters. Friday, Dec. 21 marks Langley’s first annual holiday sweater day, an idea originating in the leadership class. Junior J.T. Meyer was one of its most enthusiastic supporters and took on the project.
With fliers in the halls and bathrooms, Meyer “ tried to promote it and encourage everybody to partake in the holiday fun,” he said.
Students of all grades plan to show off their holiday attire. Sweater styles range from crew-necks to classic button ups, with some people even breaking out their decorated vests.
Senior Drew Armstrong has strict qualifications for his holiday wear. “If I don’t find at least two rodents infested in the sweater at the thrift shop then it’s not good enough for me.”
The holidays are a time for good cheer and spirit. Snowmen, Christmas trees, polar bears and reindeer are just some of the festive sweater adornments students look forward to showing off tomorrow. Essentially, any holiday sweater you can find from the 80’s fits the theme.
“For the other 11 and a half months of the year, people can be sad and cold to one another, but for this short period every year we all come together and have a good time in each others company,” said Meyer.
Promoting holiday enthusiasm in light of the potential apocalypse, this school-wide festivity is certain to become a tradition for years to come (if there are years to come).
