Just as everyone thought the students of Langley lived in towns where nothing newsworthy seems to happen, a week’s worth of action occurred in one day.
Last Wednesday, Langley students busy with their after-school routine were interrupted by two Fairfax County Police Department helicopters hovering above. The helicopters were searching for fugitives who were fleeing from crimes committed in neighborhoods where many Langley students live.
Later information from the police revealed that two dangerous men were running loose in neighborhoods around the Spring Hill and Spring Hill RECenter area.
“I was really scared. We weren’t allowed to go outside and I was afraid one of the guys was going to do something crazy like break in through our doggy-door,” said freshman Kaylea von Seggern, who lives in one of the affected neighborhoods. “It was also really hard to focus on anything with the helicopters. They were really loud and lasted forever.”
The men allegedly stole a car, fled from the police in a chase on the Capital Beltway, crashed the car in the neighborhood near Spring Hill, broke into and hid in a home, and stole items including a car and house keys from that home.
The police search lasted into late the evening, but no suspects were found.
Langley students have no need to worry, however, as these men are supposedly out of the Mclean/Great Falls area, while still on the run from the police.
