The Saxon Scope’s Sara Ebadi sat down with senior class president Natalie Rasmus to find out more about THON, Langley’s annual dance-a-thon, which will take place on March 9 from 12:00pm to 8:00pm in order to raise money for the Joe Cassella Foundation.
Sara Ebadi: What can we expect from this year’s THON?
Natalie Rasmus: We have over 150 dancers, compared to 60 last year. It’s also going to be really fun, because this year, its more interactive, meaning that we have activities like twister, Zumba and the dance team teaching a line dance.
SE: What kinds of food will be served?
NR: There is going to be Chipotle, Chesapeake bagels, Ichiban sushi, Velocity 5-A Sports Bar, Tavern, Old Brogue, Potbelly, a cake walk later on, and free cupcakes, cookies, and brownies.
SE: What will the performances be like? Will there be a DJ?
NR: Yes, there will be a DJ. The band Archie will be performing, as well as a couple talent show winners and the Poi club.
SE: How much is it costing to put on THON?
NR: It’s costing us almost nothing. Food is free and so is the entertainment. The decorations, however, cost us money, at around a couple hundred dollars, and shirts were given at a discount.
