Former Washington Redskins Ken Harvey inspired Langley juniors as keynote speaker on Career Day.
A media personality and children’s book author as well, he currently writes for the Washington Post’s sports section. His son Marcus attends Langley.
After briefly introducing himself, he advised the students to be assertive and active.
“Don’t be always ‘I wish I had, I should have,’ but actually do the stuff,” Harvey said.
He pointed out that the key to success was to project oneself well, position oneself to succeed, and be persistent.
“There is a lot of competition around these days. It’s the right time to start thinking about ‘what do I want to become,’” said Harvey.
He ended his speech with a call to action: he advised the students to go and experience, go get a book about everything out there, so they do not end up hating work after they grow up.
