Which Egyptian pharaoh tried to convert the empire to a monotheistic religion? Who
were the members of the first Triumvirate in Rome? If you can answer these questions without
skipping a beat, chances are you were one of Mr. Plunkett’s students.
Mr. Steve Plunkett, Langley’s beloved and eccentric history teacher, is gone. He has
transferred to Madison High School to become an assistant principal. Plunkett taught World
History I and World History I Honors for freshmen and has taught for seventeen years, all of
which he taught at Langley.
Even though Mr. Plunkett has transferred to another school, he still misses Langley
dearly. “I was not looking to transfer from Langley, I loved it and it is a great school. However
Madison presented an opportunity to take a job as an assistant principal which I could not turn
down,” said Plunkett.
Even though he has only been gone for a short time, teachers and administrators at
Langley already miss him. “He was incredibly organized and a real team player. He always
wanted to do what was best for kids and their achievement,” said assistant principal Mrs. Statz.
Along with Mrs. Conrad teaching English, the Plunkett-Conrad duo will be irreplaceable.
However, his fellow faculty members aren’t the only ones who will miss Plunkett, his
students will, too. “I liked his style of teaching and how he could always answer your
questions,” said former student of Mr. Plunkett, sophomore Callan Cramer.
Mrs. Melinda Conner will serve as Mr. Plunkett’s replacement as the Social Studies
Department Chair. “I miss teaching and interacting with a lot of students on a daily positive
basis, however Madison is also a great school and I have really enjoyed my new job and the
change that is involved in transitioning to a new school,” said Plunkett.
