The Langley Dance team has conquered Timber, the Orange Bowl, and now they’re heading off to Florida to do the same. Leaving school early on Thursday, they will be arriving in Orlando to compete at Nationals. Two years ago they placed 2nd competition, they are spending two days at the happiest place on earth, Disney World.
As this is a national competition, the competition will be fierce. However, they are willing to do whatever it takes to win. With about 200 teams entered, the Langley Dance Team will be competing a kick routine and jazz. Their kick routines have won many first place awards, as they have to perform about 55 kick lines in 2 minutes. To prepare, the team has been practicing with vigorous endurance training with kick after kick. “Endurance practices are extremely hard, but it’s worth it in the long run,” junior captain Sophia Iglesias said.
With all the excitement, dance team members aren’t sure which they’re more excited for, Disney World, or the competition. “I’m excited to bond with the team and go on all the rides together. It will be really fun to be in Florida with all my best friends,” sophomore Holly Lundeen said. The team will leave everyone at Langley behind for a day in 80 degree weather and sun. “We’re also going to MGM studios for a day, which I’m really excited for because I’ve never been, but I hope we win Nationals also, that would be amazing,” sophomore Caroline Moody added.
The team will return home Sunday night, and they are in high hopes for a trophy to accompany
them as well.
