As the summer months begin to tease us at the close of the school year, many couples find themselves between a metaphorical rock and hard place. The decision to stay together and be apart or end things and start all over while enjoying a “care-free” summer vacation looms in the future of relationships all over Langley. Relationships which endured during the stresses of academics, sports and 180 days of school are now “tested” by the two and a half most laid back months of the year.
If anything, summer should provide the relaxation that relationships often need. Summer is a time for a couple to find themselves outside of the school year and see how they thrive without the distraction of a school workload.
Still though many couples are quick to jump the ship and kick back in all on their lonesome. But, if that is the case, then why did we pretend all year we cared for another when we dump them the second freedom knocks?
“Break up before my summer birthday? Not a chance,” said sophomore and girlfriend Nicole Dunne.
Even though there may be separations during the summer, they shouldn’t be the reason to call things off. So heading into the summer, I still have plenty of reasons to stick with my girl for at least a few more months and I pray that our romance will not fade with our tan.
