Flashers! Burglars! Robbers! All of these incidents have happened in the area surrounding Langley, which is why we need surveillance cameras. Surveillance cameras may cost a lot of money, but they will make our school a safer place and decrease the amount of petty crime that goes on in Langley.
Students at Langley bring expensive items to school such as phones and tablets. These expensive items can easily be stolen since the majority of students do not use their lockers. For example my brother’s phone was stolen off of a desk in the library, which caused him to lose insurance on his phone. Surveillance cameras would help stop people from stealing these valuables.
The main reason surveillance cameras are needed at Langley is because of all the unsafe situations that surround the school. Last year there was a man who was flashing people only a few hundred feet from our school, in Langley Oaks.
There has been a string of burglaries in the Mclean- Great Falls area that surrounds our school. Some of the robbers have been armed. The flasher, a robber, or an armed man could easily sneak into our school and take a student or hold a room of students’ hostage.
These situations are very extreme and unlikely, but they have happened at other schools and could happen at Langley. The Langley administration has a job to keep its students safe. The solution to stopping unnecessary theft and preventing any unwanted entries into our school is surveillance cameras.
