The biggest test of the year was up next block, and I hadn’t started studying yet.
I thought I was lucky, having lunch next to attempt to squeeze in some review time while I ate.
However, just as I opened my lunch box, a pink slip was shoved in my face telling me to head to the cafeteria. This all resulted from the no food rule, which the librarians enforce with a diligence only second to that of police officers enforcing the speed limit.
This rule is unnecessary because if it wasn’t in place I would be able to be more productive with my homework and have a lot more time later to do homework from other subjects. Without this rule, Langley students could improve efficiency and productivity, leading to better grades.
It’s understandable that food wouldn’t be wanted around the computers, however by working and eating at the tables it causes no harm to the library or librarians.
Most teachers at Langley enforce the no food in class rule in their own classrooms which makes it impossible to eat lunch at any time of the day if work needs to be done in the library during lunch.
After all, lunch supplies energy, helping students to be as focused and studious as they can be.
What are students supposed to do? Focusing in the cafeteria is close to impossible with all the flying food and screaming people, and with the librarians constantly telling students not to bring in food, being productive during lunch is practically unimaginable.
Hopefully sometime in the future this rule will be revoked and everyone will be able to enjoy eating at their own will. But for now, head to the cafeteria because the library is food-free.
