You don’t have to go as far as the Louvre or the Metropolitan Art Museum to take in quality art. You just need to drive to the Mclean Community Center.
From Mar. 24 to Apr. 7, the Mclean Community Center is holding the middle and high school part of the 30th Annual Youth Art Show. Student works of art, including 2-D drawings, 3-D sculptures, computer graphics, and photography are being displayed. Several works by Langley artists are featured, as well as works by students from Cooper Middle, Longfellow Middle, and McLean High.
In addition to providing the community with excellent artwork, this gallery also provides the students opportunities to display the products of their hard work in a formal setting.
“This gallery is very helpful for students because when they see their works presented in a professional setting, they really get to know how much they have accomplished,” said Langley art teacher Ms. Campton. “Students get to increase their pride.”
The gallery is open from 10 am to 4 pm on Tues – Fri, and from 1 pm to 5 pm on Saturday.
