The annual one-act plays performed on Apr. 1 and 2 in the auditorium were a great success, as always. The student-directed plays included Cupid’s Arrow, Cable.Basically, Bang, Bang You’re Dead, Self-Defence Against Fresh Fruit, Grilled Cheese and Chocolate Milk, No, It Happened Like This…, Finding the Sun, and Family Stab.
Cupid’s Arrow, written and directed by Tess Higgins, was the story of a grown-up Cupid playing matchmaker. It was a hilarious play, in which Cupid, played by Charlie Weir, kept the audience roaring with laughter.
Cable.Basically, directed by Cyrus Kingdom and Peter Dabaldo, was about a couch potato flipping through television channels. The stories within the channels made up the plot of the play.
Bang, Bang, You’re Dead, directed by Alex Ward, was the provocative tale of a killer. Main character Josh had shot five students in the school cafeteria, and was being haunted by the ghosts of the students asking him why he had killed them.
Self-Defence Against Fresh Fruit, directed by Jay Mamana, was a humorous play about a Tae Kwon Do teacher teaching his students on how to act when somebody is attacking them with fresh fruits.
Grilled Cheese and Chocolate Milk, written and directed by Lauren Stewart, told the story of a couple who had been going to a shop for years. The couple had their first date and first kiss in that shop, and even got engaged there. The last scene of the play showed the wife telling the waiter about her husband’s death and reflecting on how important the shop was to the couple.
No, It Happened Like This…was an improvisational play directed by Natalie Bozorgzad. Four kids kicked out of the school prom for creating mayhem each gave the principal their own accounts of what happened.
Finding the Sun, directed by Justin Cecil was the story of four couples on a beach, talking about life and love.
Family Stab, directed by Tu-An Troung, was a comical account of a boy who thought he had stabbed all his family. His family spent the play trying to convince him that everything was okay, but he was not “convinced” until a pizza was delivered.
