Usually, German and Russian exchange students are spotted wandering the halls with their exchange partner or found in the middle of a crowd of Langley students being interviewed. But this time, the Spanish girls and boys, who arrived Aug. 31, are catching all the attention.

The LHS Foreign Language Department organized the event near the end of last school year, and the program was nearly cancelled due to a lack of host families.

However, it pulled through.

In previous years with other exchange programs, students were paired with other students of the same gender. This year however, there are many instances where a girl and boy are paired together.

Another difference with the program is the age gap between the students, where a 17-year-old American is paired with a 12-year-old Spanish student.

The Spanish exchange students attended a get-together before the start of school. They are planning to tour Washington D.C., visit Tysons Corner Mall and play laser tag.
