Just a few short months ago, tons of brightly colored yellow signs interrupted students’ line of sight as they glanced towards them to read “Turf Langley”, evoking the thought that they will never raise enough money in time to get a turf field by August.
But, that is just what the Langley community did. Through donations alone, they were able to raise over $700,000 to provide Langley’s athletes with a brand new turf field for the fall 2012 season.
Various Langley families and groups donated to the turf field. Some groups that contributed include the LHS field hockey, basketball, and lacrosse teams.
The highest donation, $100,000, was contributed by the Welch Family.
To recognize all the people and groups that donated significant amounts of money, a donor wall has been built adjacent to the turf stadium.
The wall is in a patio area that has picnic tables and has quickly become a place to congregate during sports games.
Sisson Landscaping was hired to install landscaping for the patio area. There are small trees and a few bushes that give the area a natural touch and add serenity to the newly renovated space.
