The basketball team played hard in its first game of the year, the two day, aptly named Tip-off Tournament. The final score for Friday’s game was 53-56 after a well fought game ending with a few controversial fouls called. “Both teams played well and it’s a shame that things didn’t go our way towards the end of the game,” shared junior Guard Tristan Evans.
Saturday night’s game was not much of a different scene, with a back and forth game until Hylton High School pulled away from the Saxons at the end of the fourth quarter. The game ended with a score of 76-84 with senior David Adams scoring a game high of 30 points.
Although the Saxons suffered two loses, they still have a great season to look forward to. Three players are injured, one of them being junior Austin Vasiliadis (last year’s starting point guard,) but the team still has more talent to look forward to. Their first regular season game is Tuesday Dec. 7 at Robinson Secondary School.
