With five freshmen, three sophomores, and completely new senior leadership on this year’s Boys Varsity roster, no one was expecting an amazing season. However, the team is determined to beat the odds and win a district title. This inexperienced team has not only taken such low expectations to heart, but has used it as motivation to blow out both Wakefield and Westfield and earn two key wins to open the season.
“They were both very good teams and probably didn’t see us as much of a threat, but we powered through and came up with some high quality wins,” said freshmen goalie Cole Stinger.
“I thought our ability to get steals and maintain the ball for long periods of time helped relieve our goalies and get some nice goals,” said senior striker Kai Gunderson, who had two goals against Wakefield.
In both games the team was able to score three goals. The opposing teams only scored a single goal.
“I though our defense played amazing while our offense did a great job of just being patient until an open opportunity presented itself. We had some great goals and I think our team is really coming together to try and have an awesome season,” said assistant coach Rahul Chaudhry.
