Coming off an impressive win against Falls Church 28-12, Thomas Jefferson started off the game looking like they would be repeating their victory. After a touchdown by Jefferson on the second play from scrimmage, setting the scoreboard at 6-0 only seconds into the game, a wave of shock settled over the Saxon stands.
However, down but not out, the Saxons scored a miraculous touchdown off a trick play ran in by junior starting quarterback Nick Casso, who was coming off an amazing outing the week before against Herndon. At the half the Saxons were up 7-6 but no team had set a clear tone yet as to who had the advantage.
The second half was similar to the first as both offenses struggled to put any points on the board. Towards the end of the fourth quarter, senior running back Philip Mun put the Saxons up 14-6 on a ten yard run with just over a minute left. The game ended 14-6, putting the Saxons at 2-0 record so far this season.
The team’s next game is on Sep. 14 against the Chantilly Chargers and will be held at Chantilly High School.
