The Bowl Championship Series is wrong again. Year after year they ruin collegiate dreams and mess up match ups creating dull blow outs. Instead of putting the top teams in the mix they create ludicrous requirements and continue to find loopholes in the system.
A team like Northern Illinois has received a bowl bid into the Orange Bowl to take on an over powering Florida State team. Although both teams won their given conferences, the competition is bar none greater in the ACC than the MAC. Northern Illinois has one victory versus ranked opponents, a single win that came in the conference championship. They beat a number 17th ranked Kent State that has only an easier schedule then NIU itself.
There one loss came to a very weak Iowa team that had nothing but field goals until the last two minutes of the game. They are undeserving and any SEC team could simply destroy them. Teams kept out of the mix who were ranked ahead are Georgia, LSU, Texas A&M, South Carolina, Oklahoma, and Oregon State all these teams have at least five victories versus ranked teams unlike NIU with one.
Besides being reliant on the computers, which infuriates me, the BCS has one rule that gets me going the most. The rule that only two teams from each conference is absolutely ridiculous. Why on earth would you limit the amount of talent put out onto the field by making rules like this? Keeping four well deserving SEC teams out due to this rule really ruins the post season for me and many fans alike.
If you are going to be a competitive league, you better put the best teams out there. Shame on you BCS. You will be receiving nothing but coal in your stockings this year.
