There is no better way to get pumped on game day than a buddy bag from your teammate. Buddy bags have become a popular tradition throughout Langley sports teams and what some say are just what teams need to get motivated on game day. “Buddy bags are a really good idea, especially when my teammates put inspirational notes in the bags to really pump me up on game day,” said JV soccer player Stephanie Sipple.
Buddy bags are bags of goodies full of magazines, snacks, candy and drinks that your “buddy” will get you on game day. Given at the beginning of the day, the bags boost athletes’ spirit and remind the rest of the school of game day. Captain of the JV soccer team Kerry McConnaughay agrees,” Buddy bags let us get more excited for our games which helps us play better as a team.”
Up to the captain of the sports team if they want to organize a buddy bag system for their team, buddy bags have made an appearance in a variety of sports teams including girls soccer, basketball, field hockey, swimming, and track.
The bags are a way for the whole team to bond and get closer together. “They get you super psyched on game day and they help everyone to bond with their team mates over the best thing ever: food,” said member of the swim team Phoebe Steiner.
