One hundred forty four wins, 66 losses, and a 68.57 win percentage. This is Mr. Travis Hess, Langley’s Boys Varsity Basketball head coach for eight years.
He recently decided to take his talents down to South County High School. Players and students have all been affected by Mr. Hess in his years here at Langley.
Leaving was not an easy decision, but “I’ve been here for 8 years and I loved every bit of it. I think this is a great opportunity, and it’s a change and it’s a chance to try something new,” said Hess.
“Mr. Hess is the greatest teacher I’ve ever had. He knows how to joke around and have fun, and at the same time help me learn what I need to learn,” said sophomore basketball player Garrett Walsh.
“The people that I work with here have been great and the relationships I’ve developed with these kids and these people are what I’ll miss most,” said Coach Hess.
After forming a strong bond with the players at Langley, Hess had I make his next move.
“It shows me, how much of an affect I had on them, but I know that Langley will get a great coach and the players will get back on their feet and continue to play,” said Hess.
South County has an easier commute giving Hess more time family time. He has had a positive effect on all of his students and his players.
“My hope is that I’ve helped the players and the people in the community as much as they have helped me,” said Hess.
