Langley intern creates six week group to discuss fitness and activities to encourage healthy living.
In past seasons, Langley Saxons are strong competitors when it comes to sports, with the lacrosse, football and field hockey teams racking up wins and undefeated streaks on a regular basis. The regiments these athletes go through are as rigorous as they are timely, with practice hours ranging on average from 1-3 hours, often after school. Maintenance of personal fitness is vital to their success, with the athletes managing their time with a thinly balanced routine of homework, sports and exercise.
Athletes follow a strict diet that reflects their sports and the calories burnt playing. Most people develop an interest in these sports but never actually follow through with the idea, believing that they neither have the time to give nor the athletic level to offer.
School psychology intern Mr. Forster seems to have found the answer. He is an intern serving since the middle of August in order to fulfill his counselor college requirements, and has decided to engage freshmen in an exclusive group, encouraging them to find a balance through exercise and a healthy diet. The group meets for six weeks beginning on November 6, with meeting taking place before school on Wednesdays.
During these meetings, Mr. Forster shows how eating right and staying fit can help someone. Maintaining the perfect balance is made possible through fun activities, including character building discussion and even playing the Wii.
In addition to the explicit benefits, members will also build friendships with other like-minded freshmen, making it a great possibility for future Langley Saxons seeking the facts of healthy living.
