On Friday January 23, Langley hosted a double header against rival, McLean high school. Earlier in the season, both girls and boy varsity beat McLean, and the teams were determined to win again. The exciting game was kicked off with a pep rally held at the end of the school day to get students pumped for the evening’s games. At 5:45, the stands quickly filled as varsity girls basketball faced off the McLean Highlanders. As soon as the game started, the Langley girls dominated McLean. As half time rolled around, McLean attempted to catch up, but they were no match for the team’s starters Jordyn Callaghan, Lauren Meyer, Ariana Aulisi, Lizzy Shamloo, and Paige Galiani. In the end, the Saxon girls dominated McLean with an astonishing score of 44 to 25. Senior Lauren Meyer said,” Beating McLean was such a rush because it’s something we could do and wanted to prove to everyone (our friends, fans, and classmates) that we could do it and show that all of our hard work has paid off.” Meyer also said, “It was incredible that both the boys and girls, Freshman, JV, and Varsity swept McLean 6-0 both times we played them this season.”
