In honor of homecoming, the Saxon Scope brought together two single socialites who couldn’t have been more single by the end of the night. Check out what happened.

Rachael: My first impression of him was that he seemed really sweet. After I was introduced to Zach, he came off as nice, but he seemed shy and quiet. That is the complete opposite of me. I’m usually outgoing, because I need to be if I want to pursue musical theatre, so the situation made me a little uncomfortable.

Zach: When I walked into Vapiano’s, she was standing there waiting. She looked really nice and was very friendly.

Rachael: We both took our cards and went to get our food.

Zach: I went and got pizza and she got pasta then we sat down together.

Rachael: He told me he heard I was on the cross-country team and asked me about that.

Zach: I asked her about some of the other people on her cross-country team to see if we knew any of the same people.

Rachael: The cross-country conversation died down pretty fast. Then he started talking to me about his interest in pro-wrestling, and one of his teachers that he doesn’t like.

Zach: I tried to bring up things to talk about but every conversation was short and forced, and neither of us was really interested in it.

Rachael: None of our conversations lasted long. I texted a lot throughout the date and I felt really bad, but it was just so awkward that I didn’t know what to do.

Zach: There were a lot of awkward pauses and periods of no conversation. 

Rachael: At the end, we didn’t really hug or say good-bye or anything.

Zach: I just waved at her from kind of far away and left.

Rachael: He was really nice but the overall date was just awkward and took forever to get through. We have very little in common and I don’t think a second date would go any better.

Zach: She’s a really nice girl and easy to talk to but we have almost nothing to talk about. I went in hoping the date would go well, but I think we just didn’t have enough to relate about. I don’t think I’d go on another date with her.
