About the daters

Ben: I like being me. I snowboard and longboard, and I like being outside. I also really like pina coladas.

Rachel: I play soccer for Langley and just hang out with friends. I’ve never been on a blind date before.

Ben: I look for a girl who’s easygoing, nice and has a sense of humor. I’m hopeful to get to know someone but have no idea what to expect.

Rachel: I like guys who are funny and nice. He has to be cute and confident. I’m attracted to athletic and outgoing guys as well.

The date

3:30pm, Season 52 at Tysons Corner Mall

Rachel: I was excited when I first saw Ben because I kind of knew him, but not very well, so it was a chance to get to know him.

Ben: I was happy to see that my date wasn’t someone weird and that we were acquaintances.

Rachel: There was a lot of small talk in the beginning. We talked about colleges and what we had done the night before.

Ben: We started talking about colleges we’re applying to and summer vacations at the beginning. It wasn’t awkward and we were getting along.

Rachel: The conversation never dragged. He had a lot to talk about so it wasn’t awkward at all. I ordered a chicken sandwich. It was really good, but kind of hard to eat.

Ben: The food was very tasty. I ordered a steak since I wasn’t paying for it.

Rachel: I had a really fun time and got to know Ben a lot better. I would love to go on another date with him.

Ben: The date was a very good experience and helped us get to know each other better.
