As many in the Langley community may know, Coach Travis Hess’ daughter Gianna is battling hepablastoma, a form of cancer. The Hess family is in need of support and donations, to cover Gianna’s medical bills and the cost of traveling back and forth from Phildelphia for treatment. Below are several ways in which you can help.
1) PayPal donation: You can donate here with a credit card, and the money will go straight to the Hess family.
2) Check donation: Checks can be left in Coach Hess’ mailbox in the front office.
3) Support groups: Different groups are being formed to help, in areas such as healthcare supplies, meals, groceries, childcare, etc. Those interested can contact Margaret Scheirer at [email protected].
4) Sneaker laces sale: The basketball team will be selling sneaker laces, with proceeds going to the Hess family. For more information, contact any members of the basketball team.
5) Three on Three basketball tournament: The junior class is sponsoring a basketball tournament, open to all teachers and students. The proceeds will go to the Hess family. Contact junior class president Shy Daraiekia at [email protected] for more information.
6) Old Brogue fundraiser: The Old Brogue, an Irish pub located in Great Falls Village, will designate a date where a portion of all proceeds go towards the Hess family. More information will be available soon.
7) If you have other fundraising ideas, please let Ms. Scheirer know.
Together, the Langley community can pull together and help one of its own. “We are committed to supporting the Hess family over the long run, and there will be plenty of time and opportunity to implement everyone’s ideas,” said Ms. Scheirer.
