Pay with compliments and you will always be wealthy. In that case, the founder of Langley Compliments must be filthy rich.
Inspired by Queens University in Canada, the Langley Compliments Facebook and Twitter pages has 472 friends and 195 followers as of Jan. 19.
The founder of Langley Compliments, who wishes to remain anonymous, had a friend message him/her telling him/her about the compliments page that his school had set up. Thus began the Langley Compliments.
The goal of Langley Compliments is simple. “Through this group I want people to be happy,” said the founder, who was interviewed via Facebook. The group initially began with only the founder posting his or her own compliments.
Eventually, however, the founder began taking in submissions. “I’ve gotten around 250 compliments submitted so far. When I am posting them there are so many nice and sincere compliments that I can agree with,” said the founder.
In addition to making people happy, the founder realized people needed an outlet for receiving and giving compliments. “Sometimes it can be awkward to say stuff like that directly to the people so I think through this page people are able to compliment people more honestly and from their heart,” said the founder.
The founder, looking towards the future, hopes to make this a Langley tradition, a legacy. “I want to find a good trustworthy underclassman to pass this account on to once I graduate. I hope this page grows big and becomes a proud part of our Saxon tradition!”
