The annual German exchange program is very popular with the German students here at Langley.
The tradition carried on this week with the Germans arriving last week at Dulles International Airport.
We were standing with presents and signs in hand, anticipating their arrival. In fact, as soon as he arrived, I was able to catch up with my own exchange student, Markus Biskup.
Taylor Snyder: How did it feel to meet me for the first time on Thursday at the airport?
Markus Biskup: It was exciting and I was anxious to meet you after talking over Facebook.
TS: How old are you?
MB: I am 15 and a freshman in high school.
TS: What part of Germany do you live in?
MB: Garbenteich, which is outside Frankfurt.
TS: How does the school in Germany compare to school over here?
MB: It is a lot bigger and more strict here.
TS: How did it feel like to fly to America for the very first time?
MB: It wasn’t that scary really, but I slept most of the flight.
TS: What do you do in your free time in Germany that compares to what we do in our free time here?
MB: We play on the computer and play a lot of sports in Germany. It’s about the same.
TS: Are you excited for the big plans that will be going on this weekend with our exchange program such as the DC trip, our barbeques, NYC trip, and many other fun sports gatherings?
MB: Yes, I am very interested to socialize with all of the other German kids and parents and learn about city’s here.
TS: What was reason for doing the exchange program and coming here?
MB: I did it for the fun experience and to learn more about English since I am not very good at speaking it right now.
