Hank Crumpton, the former head of the CIA’s National Resources Division and the leader of the United States’ response to the 9/11 Terrorist Attacks, has been announced as the commencement speaker for the Class of 2013’s graduation on June 13.
Crumpton was featured on CBS News’ 60 Minutes in 2012 where he discussed his past as a CIA officer.
After joining the CIA at the age of 23, Crumpton worked in Africa, Europe, and Asia on recruiting foreign nationals that could provide information.
Crumpton was sent to Afghanistan after the September 11 Terrorist Attacks and helped to topple the Taliban’s government in the Central Asian nation.
After retiring from the CIA six years ago, Crumpton worked as a consultant for private companies and gave speeches across the country.
He now works for the Crumpton Group, a consulting firm he founded in 2008.
