Our lives have been tragically shaken by the careless acts of our leaders. The people of America are devastated beyond all belief. Life itself has become an eternal struggle. Wake up America! The panda cam is down!

But seriously, the government shutdown is pretty big deal.  Many important government workers have been furloughed, numerous organizations like Smithsonian and the Library of Congress have been closed, and worst of all the government isn’t accomplishing anything.

For some reason this whole shutdown thingy is world news and everyone is freaking out about it. It’s on every news and radio channel and is headlining every newspaper. For some reason even I’m writing about it too. The shutdown shouldn’t be surprising to any of you. At this point the only thing the shutdown has changed is our great Congress members are openly informing the public that they are not accomplishing anything, instead of just pretending to get stuff done.

All in all this government shut down doesn’t mean a whole lot to most of us. At some point we will find out find out on TV, the radio, or maybe even from my column that the government has finally gone back to pretending to get stuff done and we will all take a deep sigh of relief.
