While her classmates study for AP US History and work on their English projects, Langley junior Elizabeth Kruse will be acting as the Youth Ambassador at the 55th Washington International Horse Show, one of the largest equestrian events in the nation.
Kruse is charged with managing the Youth Committee at the show which runs October 21st to 27th at the Verizon Center in downtown D.C. “I am the leader of the Youth Committee which is a group of 20 local teens who are passionate about horses and their community,” said Kruse.
While at the show, Kruse will “be a voice for young equestrians in the Washington D.C. metro area” according to the WIHS.
Last year, Kruse was a member of the WIHS Youth Committee and described it as “one of the best experiences of my high school career.”
Langley junior Caroline McGranahan and sophomore Natalie Ralston are members of the 2013 Youth Committee, headed by Kruse.
Kruse will be missing a week of school to attend the show but said that her teachers “have been extremely helpful dealing with my absences.”
“I’m most looking forward to Thursday, ‘Barn Night,’ which is basically the Pep Rally of the Horse world,” said Kruse. “Everyone gets dressed up and it’s a really fun night.”
