The World Affairs Club, a recent addition to Langley High School’s club catalog, aims to promote global awareness and understanding. The club will offer a variety of activities and events over the course of the year, including guest speaker presentations, various cultural activities, and simulations.
Included in this year’s line-up of presenters are speakers from organizations like the United Nations, CIA, OPEC, NATO, and the World Bank. Additionally, the club will participate in the World Affairs Challenge (WAC), an international program for students to develop and implement their own solutions to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Founder and current President of the club Ryan Minton is extremely excited for the club’s debut at Langley. Miss Hohn, one of Langley’s freshman English teachers, will be the club’s sponsor.
For students interested, the club will be hosting an Open House on Thursday, September 12, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 3:45 PM in Miss Hohn’s room (#2407). At the Open House, students will have the opportunity to learn more about the club and enjoy international treats. The club requests that students planning on attending the Open House join the Schoology Group “Langley World Affairs” using the access code: 3R92-HFGC-XMQSF.
