The Langley girls volleyball team has won the state championship for the second year in a row. This has come from tireless efforts from coaches and players.
“We lost a lot of really amazing players coming into this year, but we had a really good core of kids who came up,” head girls’ volleyball varsity coach Susan Shifflett said.
Players from past years, who played on freshman and the JV team now play on varsity and have made the team as successful as it is today. Athletes like Vivian Nitowski and Ana Toumazatos have worked up from being on the freshman team to star players on varsity. The team will be losing 5 seniors going into the 2025-2026 season.
“Obviously, losing five seniors is hard not just because they were good players, but also because they brought experience, and leadership and served as role models for everyone else. However, I think that if everyone works hard and has the same mindset as we had this year we’ll be fine,” Singh said.
The confidence going into the next season is contagious and grounded. With the dedication and bond shared by the whole team it’s likely Langley’s girls volleyball extends their rule another season.
“These girls have grown so much. Their ability to adapt as players and people is amazing,” Shifflett said.
There is a direct correlation between the teams relationship off the court and their performance on the court. Their bond has allowed them to succeed and will continue to serve them well going into the next season.
“I love everyone on the team. They’re amazing people on and off the court,” said Singh.
